What PostMTA is.
PostMTA is a self-hosted, operator-controlled email delivery platform. The MTA is KumoMTA — open source, production-grade, battle-tested. We layer on a 71+ API surface, dedicated-IP tooling, warm-up automation, deliverability monitoring, and a local Qwen2.5-Coder self-healing loop. The operator owns the binary, the data, and the IPs.
The self-healing layer is the differentiator. A local LLM watches the KumoMTA installation, detects when configuration drifts or queues back up, applies the fix, then exits. No human on call for the boring failures. The runtime stays green.
In production at Onextel, an Indian carrier-scale email operator, PostMTA is currently pushing 500M+ transactional and bulk emails per month across dedicated IP pools. The architecture is proven at volume, not at "the pitch deck says it works at volume."

Self-hosted MTAs fail silently.
A misconfigured DKIM record, a stale DNSBL listing, a queue that's been backing up for six hours. The alert lands at 3 a.m. and the on-call engineer has to log in and remember which knob to turn.
The vendor tax
Hosted ESPs punish volume.
SendGrid, Mailgun, SES — all charge per email at the top of the curve, all put you on shared IPs by default, all give you a dashboard instead of an API. The bill grows linearly with the volume you can't move.
The data exit
Data must not leave the perimeter.
Healthcare, financial, and government operators can't send PHI, PII, or regulated payloads through a third-party ESP. They need an MTA in their own VPC, on their own IPs, with their own audit trail.
The solution
Self-hosted email, with a self-healing runtime.
PostMTA drops onto a Linux box — bare metal, VM, or container — and exposes 71+ REST APIs for everything: queue management, IP warm-up, bounce classification, suppression lists, template rendering, webhook orchestration, deliverability scoring. The operator wires the APIs into their own application, billing, and analytics.
A local Qwen2.5-Coder model runs as a sidecar. It reads the KumoMTA logs, watches the queue depth, monitors bounce rates and IP reputation, and applies remediations when thresholds cross. When the run is healthy, the sidecar self-terminates. The footprint is small. The uptime is high.
No per-email fees. No shared IPs. No third party reading the headers. The operator owns the MTA, owns the IPs, owns the data, owns the audit trail.
